About Us
Everyday ancestral foods, for the modern
American kitchen
Lentils simmered slowly. Turmeric stirred into warm milk. Gram flour turned into dishes passed down for generations. We grew up with these foods. Now we’re bringing them to your table — clean, traceable, and uncompromised.

Between an Indian grandmother’s pantry and a modern American kitchen, there is a shorter path than you’d think.
We didn’t set out to build an ethnic grocery brand. We set out to build a trusted organic pantry — one rooted in the food traditions and wisdom we inherited.
Origin · The Kitchen We Grew Up In
A pantry built from habit, not trend.
Our family grew up cooking with these ingredients every day — long before they had marketing names like “plant-based” or “superfood.”
Lentils simmered for an hour while homework got done at the kitchen table. Turmeric stirred into warm milk before bed. Gram flour, transformed by hand into pakoras on rainy afternoons and face masks on wedding mornings. These weren’t exotic ingredients. They were simply part of everyday life.
Generations of mothers, aunts, and grandmothers handed them down — not through cookbooks, but through the simple ritual of doing.

The Problem · A Pantry, Lost in Translation
When we looked here, the labels said everything and nothing.
The same ingredients we’d known since childhood arrived in American grocery aisles overprocessed, poorly sourced, and stripped of the qualities that made them worth eating.
Lentils so polished they cooked into mush. Turmeric cut with fillers. “Cold-pressed” oils that weren’t. Origin stories that stopped at a distribution warehouse. We were standing in the aisle thinking: this isn’t the food we know. And if we couldn’t find it — neither could the millions of families across America trying to eat well, eat clean, and eat real.
The Solution · From Field to Pantry, Without Detour
So we built Darsa — the pantry we wished we’d found.
We work directly with trusted, certified organic farms in India. No middlemen. No anonymous commingling. No shortcuts dressed up as standards.
Every lentil, every spice, every drop of cold-pressed oil is traceable to its soil. Every product is certified by the USDA, GMP, OneCert, FSSAI, and India Organic — five layers of verification, because one wasn’t enough for us.
Then we minimally process. Vacuum-seal in eco-friendly pouches. And ship from our family-run operation in Palo Alto, California — to your kitchen.

Four quiet commitments
that shape every pouch we ship.
No gimmicks. No trend-chasing. Just the standards we believe pantry food should always have met — and rarely does.
Certified organic, single-ingredient, no additives, no preservatives. You should be able to read the label in a single breath.
High-protein lentils. Antioxidant-rich spices. Fiber-dense whole grains. Foods that naturally fit into modern wellness routines.
Eaten daily for generations across India — long before they were fashionable. Not trends. Traditions brought forward with integrity.
Designed for weeknight dinners, not just festival feasts. Lentil soups, salad bowls, veggie burgers — easy, family-friendly, real.
Pure, traceable, organic pantry staples rooted in heritage, made for today.
The Darsa family · Palo Alto, California
From khichdi to tacos
to a Tuesday-night soup.
A weeknight protein that takes thirty minutes. The kids don’t notice it’s made with lentils. You do.
Where Indian staples meet Greek olive oil and Italian herbs. Good food doesn’t care about borders.
Traditions translate. The same pulse that fed Delhi for centuries now warms a kitchen in São Paulo — or San Diego.
A standing invitation
These aren’t trends.
They’re everyday foods.
And we’re proud to bring them to your table — clean, traceable, and uncompromised. One pantry staple at a time.
