Ingredients:

- 1 ½ cups Water
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- ½ teaspoon Salt
Preparation:
- Rinse the rice: In a fine-mesh strainer, rinse the basmati rice under cold running water for 1-2 minutes, swirling the grains to remove excess starch Alternatively, soak the rice in a bowl of water for 15 minutes, then drain thoroughly.
- Cook the rice: In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed basmati rice, water, butter (if using), and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
