Classic Hummus Recipe
Hummus is a delicious and versatile Middle Eastern dip made from mashed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. It's a perfect appetizer or snack, and can be enjoyed with pita bread, vegetables, or even crackers.
Here's how to make your own classic hummus at home:
Ingredients:
- 200 gms boiled Darsa-Organics Chickpeas
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 2 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 1/4 tsp Darsa-Organics Cumin Powder
- 2-3 tbsp Olive Oil
- Paprika for garnish (optional)
- Lemon, sliced (optional)
- 1 finely chopped Green Chilli (optional)
- Pine nuts (optional)
- Salt to taste
Preparation:
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor.
- Grind until you get a smooth and creamy paste. Scrape down the sides as needed.
- If the hummus is too thick, add a little water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season with salt to taste.
Notes:
- For an extra-smooth hummus, remove the chickpea skins before blending. You can do this by rubbing the cooked chickpeas between your fingers.
- Want to add some extra flavor? Try roasting the garlic cloves in the oven for a deeper, richer taste.
- Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Get creative with your garnishes! A drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of paprika, chopped fresh herbs, or even a dollop of pesto can all add a nice touch.
