Classic Hummus Recipe

Hummus is a delicious and versatile Middle Eastern dip made from mashed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. It's a perfect appetizer or snack, and can be enjoyed with pita bread, vegetables, or even crackers.

Here's how to make your own classic hummus at home:

Ingredients:

  • 200 gms boiled Darsa-Organics Chickpeas
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp tahini (sesame paste)
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1/4 tsp Darsa-Organics Cumin Powder
  • 2-3 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Paprika for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon, sliced (optional)
  • 1 finely chopped Green Chilli (optional)
  • Pine nuts (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor.
  2. Grind until you get a smooth and creamy paste. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. If the hummus is too thick, add a little water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Season with salt to taste.

Notes:

  • For an extra-smooth hummus, remove the chickpea skins before blending. You can do this by rubbing the cooked chickpeas between your fingers.
  • Want to add some extra flavor? Try roasting the garlic cloves in the oven for a deeper, richer taste.
  • Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Get creative with your garnishes! A drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of paprika, chopped fresh herbs, or even a dollop of pesto can all add a nice touch.
