Vegetable Dalia: A Hearty and Healthy Meal
Vegetable Dalia is a delicious and nutritious dish made with broken wheat (dalia), vegetables, and spices. It's a popular breakfast option in India, but can be enjoyed for any meal. Packed with protein and fiber, Dalia is a great way to start your day or have a satisfying lunch or dinner.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Darsa Organics Wheat Dalia
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chilies (optional)
- 1 medium tomato, chopped
- ½ cup chopped carrots
- ½ cup chopped potatoes
- ½ cup fresh green peas
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon Darsa Organics Cumin
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- Darsa Organics Salt to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves (for garnish)
Preparation:
- Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker on low flame.
- Add chopped onions and saute until translucent.
- Add ginger, green chilies (if using), and cumin. Saute for a minute.
- Add chopped tomato and cook for another minute.
- Add chopped potatoes, carrots, and green peas. Saute for 2 minutes on low to medium-low flame.
- Rinse the Dalia and add it to the vegetables. Cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
- Add water and salt to taste. Stir well.
- Pressure cook on medium flame for 10-12 whistles or until the Dalia is cooked and has a porridge-like consistency.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot or warm.
Notes:
- You can adjust the amount of water depending on the desired consistency of the Dalia.
- Feel free to add other vegetables of your choice, such as bell peppers, beans, or cauliflower.
- For a richer flavor, you can use vegetable stock instead of water.
