Vegetable Dalia: A Hearty and Healthy Meal

Vegetable Dalia is a delicious and nutritious dish made with broken wheat (dalia), vegetables, and spices. It's a popular breakfast option in India, but can be enjoyed for any meal. Packed with protein and fiber, Dalia is a great way to start your day or have a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Darsa Organics Wheat Dalia
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1-2 green chilies (optional)
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • ½ cup chopped potatoes
  • ½ cup fresh green peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon Darsa Organics Cumin
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • Darsa Organics Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander leaves (for garnish)

Preparation:

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker on low flame.
  2. Add chopped onions and saute until translucent.
  3. Add ginger, green chilies (if using), and cumin. Saute for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomato and cook for another minute.
  5. Add chopped potatoes, carrots, and green peas. Saute for 2 minutes on low to medium-low flame.
  6. Rinse the Dalia and add it to the vegetables. Cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
  7. Add water and salt to taste. Stir well.
  8. Pressure cook on medium flame for 10-12 whistles or until the Dalia is cooked and has a porridge-like consistency.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot or warm.

Notes:

  • You can adjust the amount of water depending on the desired consistency of the Dalia.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables of your choice, such as bell peppers, beans, or cauliflower.
  • For a richer flavor, you can use vegetable stock instead of water.
